Real Format Decoder Licensing Overview
The Real Format (RealAudio/RealVideo) source code is available for R&D under the terms of a Real Format Source Code Porting and Optimization licenses and binaries can be distributed under the terms of the RCSL Commercial Use agreement. The pricing for Commercial Use is below.

Real Format Source Code Porting and Optimization Licenses
Real Format Source Code Porting and Optimization License: modifications to the Real Format decoder source code are required to be returned and may be made available to other licensees for research or commercial use. Requires a Development Support Agreement.
Real Format Source Code Porting and Optimization License - Distribution Restricted: modifications to the Real Format decoder source code are required to be returned and will NOT be made available to other licensees. Requires a Development Support Agreement and a distribution restriction fee.
RCSL Commercial Use License
Royalty is $0.25 per unit without Helix DNA Client (this is applicable on products WITHOUT a Linux, Andorid, Symbian or Microsoft operating system)
Royalty is $0.50 per unit with Helix DNA Client (this is applicable on products WITH a Linux, Andorid, Symbian or Microsoft operating system)
Notes:
- On products wtih a Linux, Andorid, Symbian or Microsoft operating system Helix DNA Client or RealPlayer must be used with RealAudio and RealVideo decoders (i.e. Real Format)
- Quarterly minimum royalty payments are required
- Development Support Service is required
- Above licenses are for decode only -- for free encode, see the Helix DNA Producer
- Above royalties apply for any combination of RealAudio and/or RealVideo codecs, they are not licensed separately.
